On the margins of 2026 Korea-Africa Business Forum, Honourable Dr. Phenyo Butale, held a bilateral meeting with a delegation from Daewoo Engineering & Construction, led by Mr. Jung-Jun Yoon, Senior Manager for Oil and Gas.

The meeting focused on potential areas of collaboration in the exploration and development of rare earth minerals in Botswana, as part of broader efforts to strengthen investment cooperation in the mining and extractive sectors.

The discussions also reflected on Daewoo’s longstanding partnership with Botswana, including its contribution to key infrastructure development projects such as road construction in the Serowe–Orapa region in the 1970s, as well as its involvement in the construction of the iconic Kazungula Bridge.
